The Mount Maunganui Golf Club, Tauranga City Council, Te Puke Sports and Recreation Club, and Rotorua’s Kaharoa School were the biggest recipients of the latest round of New Zealand Community Trust grants.
The biggest recipient was the Mount Maunganui Golf Club, which was gifted $100,000 towards upgrading its facilities.
Tauranga City Council was granted $70,000 towards the installation of light poles at Wharepai Domain and the Te Puke Sports and Recreation Club received $60,000 for the construction of a 400-seat covered grandstand.
Rotorua’s Kaharoa School received $53,600 for the refurbishment of its school and community pool.
A total $491,250 worth of New Zealand Community Trust grants were awarded in March.
The recipients were:
– All Saints by the Sea Parish: $10,000 towards re-roofing of the St Peter’s Catholic Church in Maketū
– Basketball Development Trust: $20,000 towards the Breakers Roadshow programme cost
– Bay of Plenty Indoor Bowls Centre: $1000 towards travel costs for representative teams to various events in the North Island
– Kaharoa School: $53,600 towards the refurbishment of school and community pool.
– Katikati Croquet Club: $3,000 towards lawn care and maintenance
– Linton Park Community Trust: $8,000 towards security cameras and lighting upgrade
– Mid Island Gym Sports: $31,000 towards roof repairs
– MotorSport Bay of Plenty: $3000 towards first aid coverage for various events
– Mount Maunganui Golf Club: $100,000 towards facilities upgrade
– Ngongotaha Sports and Community Association: $8,460 towards playing and training equipment
– Rangiwewehi Charitable Trust: $20,000 towards playground upgrade
– Rotorua Competitions Society: $7,200 towards adjudicator fees
– Rotorua Little Theatre Society: $33,060 towards the refurbishment of ladies’ and men’s toilets
– Ruamata Waka Ama: $30,000 towards a new waka ama
– Swimming Bay of Plenty: $3000 towards travel and accommodation
– Tauranga City Council: $70,000 towards the installation of lights and poles at Wharepai Domain
– Tauranga Old Blues Football Club: $2916.88 towards playing uniforms and equipment
– Te Kura Kaupapa Maori o Te Orini ki Ngatiawa: $10,041 towards playing uniforms and sports equipment
– Te Puke Sports & Recreation Club: $60,000 towards the construction of a 400-seat covered grandstand
– Waikato Bays Judo Association: $13,707 towards costs associated with Waikato Bays Judo Open Championships in Rotorua
– Whakarewarewa Rugby Community Sports: $3264 towards a scrum machine
– Total: $491,250
